Though it’s a little bit warmer since yesterday, we had some really nice powderdays and there are some nice powderdays coming as well! PowderAlert #18 brought around 50-100 centimeter of freshies in the French Alps, Unterwallis and the northern alpine ridge in Switzerland. And with yesterdays snow, the northern Alps also got around a meter of snow. The Powfinder reports just keep coming in (keep them coming) and show that the stoke is pretty high! Let’s move forward to PowderAlert #19. Will this bring another 100 centimeter of freshies?

Storm Pille
Storm Pille

Short term

Storm Pille has moved from Iceland to Sweden. The current was southwest at first (hence the mild temperatures at the moment), but today it will turn west/northwest and this allows colder and more humid air to hit the Alps. As a result a lot of depressions will hit the northwestern regions of the Alps.

Powderadvice

  • There will be a weststau in the French Alps on Tuesday. The treeruns will be awesome in the afternoon.

  • A pretty persistent weststau will hit the French Alps and the western parts of Switzerland on Wednesday. The treeruns will be awesome with dry snow.

  • The weststau will still be on in the French Alps and the western parts of Switzerland on Thursday. Treeruns, treeruns, treeruns.

  • Head to the northern Alps on Friday and in the weekend. The northstau will bring epic conditions!

It's deep!
It’s deep!

The current seems to turn north after Thursday and this will result in freshies for the northern Alps. The air will get colder and colder and the snow will be colder and lighter as well. You can expect 20-60 centimeter due to the northstau in the first Alps on Thursday and Sunday. This might locally be around 80 centimeters.

The first week of February will be a week not to be missed! It’ll be cold, there’ll be lots of snow and the treeruns will be awesome. I’ll go to the western Alps with the crew of Moss Snowsticks today. After deep powder in Canada with CMH, now deep powder in the Alps.

Stay stoked
