Exposition

The formally Olympic mountain Axamer Lizum lies south of the river Inn, the border between the first Alps in the north and the 'real' Alps in the south. Therefore during a nordstau most of the snow falls on the Nordkette facing Axamer Lizum on the other side. But it's a very nice area for two reasons. First there isn't much powderstress, so days after a dump you can still ride good snow. And secondly because the valley at Innsbruck is so wide that the clouds strand here in the second stau. Less snow, but also less pressure. Enjoyed best between mid January and mid February.

With bad weather

You'll find nice treeruns skiers-left and skiers-right of the Birgitkopf lift.
