Davos-Klosters is located between the north alpine ridge and the main alpine ridge. Most snowfall comes from cold fronts from northstau and weststau, where Klosters gets more then Davos. Especially during early or late winter, low pressure areas can come to a stand still right in this area, dumping all the snow it has right here. When it is too cold, all the snow is dropped in Vorarlberg and the clouds will not reach the cold valleys of Davos-Klosters anymore. This can turn into an advantage during warm fronts mid winter, because it cools the warm air and the snow line will therefore be lower here compared to the surrounding areas.

With bad weather

Tree lines are stil possible but beware, every year there are new parts of the forest protected as wildschutz. So check the present situation to prevent huge fines. With bad weather you can still ride left of Gotschnagrat, the forest between Laret and Selfranga and on Jacobshorn and Rinerhorn.

Very fine snow but a thin baselayer. Classics are tracked out. Weisfluhgipfel and Casanna still quiet dangerous with slabs and many sharks. Best snow to be found around Christenstein and Zenjiflue but you have to skin a bit.
