Exposition

The Engadin is the largest high valley of Switzerland. With the location in alpenhoofdkam is here a special internal alpine climate. The summers are hot and dry, winters are very cold and relatively dry. Most snow falls in the (late) autumn and spring. Where the most snow fronts from southern directions and due to the height of the valley and the microclimate quickly preserved remains. A special situation arises if an 'advanced layer above Grisons forms and much snow can provide. When the snow comes early than it promises a good winter, but remains off, then fall dead of winter usually only a few centimeters a dump. An early start is essential, but it also follows a long winter.

With bad weather

Many wild schutz here. Do you want peace of mind through the woods popping, then head to the elevator Aela. Parking is done at the top of the Maloja Pass.
