Gstaad is east from Lake Geneva and though there are whispers of the lake effect the reality is that Gstaad is too far from the lake for it to have any influence. More effective is that Gstaad lies north of the Alpennordhang. The snow here is provided by the weststau and the northweststau. When warm fronts come through from the south west it might rain, but when the cold front arrives so does the snow. And because the area is very grassy you can already ride very early in the season.

With bad weather

This area still offers a lot of forests where you can go all out. For a few of them a wildschutz is in place but the majority is fair game. A few ask that you be considerate of the wildlife though. Keep that in mind!
