Exposition

These are the ultimate pre-alps of the northern Alps. Best conditions are to be found during nordstau. During a weststau, Kampenwand is a no-go due to the continuous snow level yo-yo that it causes. When a southern föhn raises, this is definitely a place to avoid. The Kampenwand summits at only 1669 meter, the same height as most of the French resort start. You can imagine that this isn’t a good place to be during changeable winters, because of the Alpine meadows the terrain doesn’t require much snow. Three days of a full-on nordstau already suffices to shred some powder turns here.

With bad weather

Spot your lines carefully from the gondola. The forest can get very dense at times here.
