Exposition

West of Chur lies Flims-Laax-Falera. This is not a powderhole. Because of its location just south of the north alpine ridge it's sort of on the wrong side of the mountain. While powderholes such as Elm and Braunwald, located on the north side of these peaks, are amongst the snowiest villages in the Swiss Alps, Flims-Laax-Falera doesn't do so well. Here the warm fronts from the weststau and a slightly warmer nordstau bring all the snow. But don't be fooled! You might only get 5cm down in the village, that doesn't mean there won't be 30+cm up on the top.

With bad weather

Though the wildschutz is rapidly advancing here as well, there are still plenty of forests between Laax and Falera. Be carefull though: the trees can be véry close together.
