Montgenèvre sits on top of the 'Col de Montgenevre. It is high in the middle of the alpenhoofdkam and in such a way that the area benefits from snow from the west, south and east. As a rule, it is also one of the first areas in France sometime in November already opened their lifts. And they're proud. Cold fronts from the weststau and anything else from the north provides a hard, dry and cold wind. During northern winter sitting here bad, but during southern winter this is a perfect base. From mid-March, the air from the south and enters the hot spring.

With bad weather

The northern slopes of Montgenevre and Claviere provide enough trees. Check the Tremplin and Brousset elevator in Montgenevre. In his Clavière Col Boeuf and Serra Grenat the elevators where you want to bad weather and snowfall. All larches here, so you can get on lol. Because the Col de Montgenevre an important link between Italy and France do snowplows everything to get things open.

Still some good powder to find higher up! But high temperatures unfortunately. Touring gear advised.

Cuz of the gale force winds here in Monêtier, (Serre Che), I headed for Montgenèvre. Yes, if you could find it great pow between trees. Occasional sharks. The tops & ridges super stripped from wind. Really cold. I recommend keeping north with all that new snow, enjoy! (Trees behind me is where I spent all day, great!).
