Exposition

Ramsau lies at the foot of the Dachsteiner Glacier. The Dachsteiner Tauern is an exceptionally high range in the middle of the Pre-Alps. This is the reason it picks up snow from any weather system between West to Northeast. Weststau often leads to a snow level yoyo whilst Nordstau means lots of cold snow from the North. Due to its situation south of the Dachstein range, this effect is less pronounced in Ramsau than in the areas more to the north. The reason for heading to Ramsau is the famous Edelgriess, which is at its best between the beginning of Februari to mid March.

With bad weather

Don't head for the glacier on snowy days. You'll be better off on the tree runs of Ski Amadé.
