Exposition

Seefeldis located on a plateau just north of the Inn. The really big tops of the front Alps are located just north, which makes the forcing effect less than in the northern areas. If the Seefelder Spitze with over 2200 meters not been there, there would be a quite a chance that the clouds would pass without action. Especially with the snow from between the north and northwest there is insufficient stau to cover the unknown northern couloirs below the Seefelder Joch with powder snow. Because of the steepness you can better wait until everything is stabilized. When in February you notice the days getting longer, the western steeps quickly suffer from the sun. Best time is in mid winter.

With bad weather

Treeruns for beginners are on the Gschwandtkopf, steeper lines through forests north of the Reitheralmbahn. But be carefull, you enter a big terrain trap. The forest covered slopes north of Seefelder Joch, towards the Seefelder Strasse you would better save untill the snow has settled.
