Exposition

Val d’Hérens is sandwiched between the big shot Nendaz/Verbier and the sympathetic Val d'Anniviers. It's an inner alpine valley nestled against the peaks of the main alpine ridge. Towards the north you can see the peaks of the north alpine ridge and snow never comes from that direction. Snow comes from the weststau, especially the warm fronts bring a lot of snow. The cold fronts top it off with a layer of bone dry flakes and then the wait for the next weststau starts again.

With bad weather

La Forclaz and Arolla both offer some great forest for those days when it really dumps.
