Exposition

West of the Zugspitze, the highest mountain of Germany and north of the Fernpass, the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena is located. The best snow comes from the north and north-west. If winter gets the cold air form the higher north in here and the current has a western component, more snow falls than in the neighbour Garmisch. Is the current west and the warmth fornt are relatively warm you would better drive fare beyond the Fernpass to try your luck in the inner-alpine.

With bad weather

When the snow comes, Ehrwalder Almbhan and Lermoos offer the best opportunities. More than enough trees for lovely tree runs/ Do not make the mistake to drive further to the Fernnpass because the serpentines and the amounts of snow will give you a hard time.
