Rope lengh

  Hi, I am thinking about getting a rope to access untouched terrain and also as safety... who knows...
  A friend has suggested this material, Do you think that 30 mts is long enough? I thought that it was for use in double, but it looks in the picture that it is simple...
  Any thoughts?

  I myself have 2x 30 m Beal Rando 8 mm rope. https://sport.beal-planet.com/index.php?id_product=1380&controller... It is a twin rope, so climbing is only allowed using 2 of them parallel. For glacier travel I can tie them together and have a 60 m rope. That is, a single strand is good enough for glacier travel, though 30 m is quite short imho. That’s why I have two. One of them I give it to someone else, and we share the weight. They only weigh 1 kg each, so really light.

  Be careful: check that your climbing hardware is compatible with this rope diameter! If you use prusik knots, check also that your prusik ropes work with this 8 mm rope.

  For a single rope, it is thin (9 mm) and light! Around 2.5 kg for 50 m.

  Hi Jazzman, I fully agree with Erwin. A single 30m rope is not really much, for example, it would only allow an escape rappel of 15m. And if you are climbing anything technical, you would need to double it up anyway.
  
  2x 30m is better and super light if you split between 2 people. I normally just bring a 50m single (actually the same Petzl Volta as Erwin). Its light(ish) for a single (2.5kg), and easy to manage.
  
  If you are really just looking for an emergency rope to get out of tricky situations or crevasse rescue have you thought of a RAD system?

  That is exactly what I was looking for. For some reason I believe I forgot to put the link oh my first comment. My doubt was if 30 meters were enough, you can also get the system with a 60-meter Rope. Now I know that you both agree 30 meter that become 15 when rappelling is not enough so I will go for the 60 meter option. Thanks
