Avalanche in the Dolomites

Avalanche in the Dolomites

You will also find beautiful descents in the Dolomites. The mountains that once, in a far distant past, were living organisms at the bottom of the sea, are now home to beautiful couloirs. One of the best known is the Canale Holzer. A difficult, but nice couloir

Canale Holzer

The Canale Holzer is a long couloir with a high difficulty rating. Think between 45 and 50 degrees, with a mandatory descend from an ice waterfall. An ice ax and rope are recommended. Anyway, your hard work will be rewarded. With 1100 meters vertical of pretty steep terrain that is. Oh, and an raging avalanche. But that aside.
