PowderAlert Pyrenees!

PowderAlert Pyrenees!

The PowderAlert we announced earlier this week is extended. There’s a PowderAlert for the Alps, Scandinavia and the Pyrenees this weekend. A lot of snow came down the last couple of days and there’s more to come the next couple of days. Actually, it’s still snowing right now!Cauterets this morning. 30 cm of freshies!

The Pyrenees have a lot to offer. We’ve divided the freeride possibilities in the Pyrenees in four regions. Check out this complete overview. The four regions are:

Regions where you can not only find the Pic du Midi du Bigorre, but the freeride destinations in Andorra and large resorts such as El Formigal, Baquiera Beret and the Chamonix of Spain: Cerler. We also included some little secrets where we had great powder days in the past.

The base is pretty ok in the Pyrenees and the western and northern parts will get some snow the next couple of days, but they also have to deal with warm temperatures from Friday afternoon till Saturday night. The snow line will be around 1600-1900 meters and with a freezing level that’s around 1700-2000 meters. So you better skip Saturday and you extend your weekend. The cold air will return to the Pyrenees on Sunday and it will snow again from Sunday till Tuesday. And that’s going to be deep! Dropping temperatures and snowfall will result in great conditions for the treeruns of the Pyrenees. Time to get out there after the weekend?

Stay stoked
