The Freeride World Tour is starting again. Chamonix is the resort where the skiers and snowboarders will ride for the prestigious title of 'freeride world champion'. The official kick-off of the Tour was on Friday, but things will really go down on Saturday. The Brévent is the face where the riders will battle for the first points of the season.
Chamonix is the first stop this season. Other stops are Fieberbrunn (Austria), Andorra, Alaska and the tour traditionally ends in Verbier (Switzerland). There's only one American stop this year (no Revelstoke, no Kirkwood) and it's not even in the so-called 'lower 48's'. You can understand why the organization of the Freeride World Tour had to deal with some criticism from the US and Canada. But on the other hand, Alaska is the place where the first 'world championships of freeriding' where held back in the days.
You can tune in here on wePowder (that's Saturday from 8.45) to watch the first stop in Chamonix on the livestream. We're looking forward to all the action!
