BDTV: The La Grave cablecar

The La Grave cablecar is an icon of big-mountain freeskiing, a unique lift that accesses some of the most classic unmarked and unpatrolled steep-skiing descents in the Alps. As La Grave faces historic challenges—its main road closed by rockfall and the continued operation of the cablecar in doubt—we take an insider’s view of “Le Télépherique” and what’s at stake in the uncertain future of this backcountry mecca.

Has anyone heard an update on the status of the lease for the telepherique? As far as I’m aware, noone stepping in and lease runs out 2017. I read sth abt a new project up to col de lauze but where would the funds come from ?

This cable car looks like the old cable car in Grand-Sint-Bernard, except for load of gondola’s. Still a pity that the cable car in Grand-Sint-Bernard is no more. So La Grave will be next? #liveskirepeat
