Check out the current conditions in the Alps in this blog. We'll try to update the blog multiple times a day and feel free to post your observations or interesting stuff in the comments!
The 'Donin du Jour' measure point reports 119 centimeters of freshies in just 24 hours and 200 cm in 48 hours! The snowcover got about one meter thicker (snow settles because of its mass, temperature, wind and this pushes the air out of the snow).
The Donin du Jour measure point is situated at an alitude of 2390 meters just north of the ski resort of Anzère. It's a resort that's defined as 'powder magnet' and this means that our maps always have a bit of trouble determining the right amount of snow. According to our weather maps around 68 centimeter should have come down the last couple of days, but it's more than three times that amount! It's knowledge about such micro climates that can be the difference between a deep and a super deep day. You can expect even more snowfall in this region from Thursday.
Crans-Montana (just east of Anzère) is literally drowning in snow.
There's still an active weather alarm in the west of Switzerland. Another 60-80 centimeters of freshies is expected the next couple of hours.
You can't reach Vallorcine from France anymore. And you can't reach Chamonix anymore from Switzerland. The Col des Montets is closed because of avalanche danger.
How much snow came down in the Swiss resort Lötschental? Check out the differences!
There's a small village just south of Champex-Lac that's looking like winter wonder land!
There's so much snow coming down between Brig and Oberwald! Check out how much snow came down in Belalp already. Awesome!
The chalet Les Neiges Eternelles wears its name well!
It's starting to look like it in Vorarlberg and the Kleinwalsertal.
Great snow conditions in the Schwarzwald in south of Germany.
The snow line is dropping in Châtel in Les Portes du Soleil. It's around 800 meters now!
There's so much snow in the larch trees. It's getting better and better!
It's finally snowing in the east of Austria as well.
The sun is shining in the Serre Chevalier and Sillian (Austria).
