Rider survives big avalanche in Arosa

Kevin Bantli was very lucky today at the Weisshorn in Arosa,Switzerland, on Sunday. He triggered a huge slide and simply just was lucky to outrun it. It doesn’t look like he’s wearing a backpack (so he probably doesn’t bring a shovel and probe). You can already see some avalanches that came down before on the same face in the back. This guy was lucky. Very lucky.

Test your knowledge about avalanches and snow safety for free!

The avalanche danger in the Alps is ‘Considerale’ (3 on a scale of 5) or ‘High’ (4 on a scale of 5) at the moment. More and more people venture off-piste, but not everybody has the right knowledge and the right gear. Around 30 people died because of avalanches this winter. Do you have the right knowledge to ride off-piste? Test it yourself and start with the first capital of the Mountain Academy for free! No knowledge? Stay on the marked slopes or hire a mountain guide!

It appears that there were already a number of slides that had occurred already judging by the avalanche debris in the background.
