Two mountain guides died in avalanches in Lech

Sad news out of the Austrian Alps today. Two mountain guides died in two different avalanches in Lech am Arlberg.

Mohnenfluh

The first accident happened in the Mohnenfluh area, between Lech and Schröcken. The mountain guide was caught by the avalanche, was localized by his group with avalanche beacons, but help came too late.

Mehlsack

The second avalanche came down near the Mehlsack. A mountain guide got caught by an avalanche. As with the accident earlier that morning, he was localized fast, but help came too late.
