Freerider Maxim Arsenault dies in avalanche near Haines

By Sandra on 22 April 2016 · 0

Big-mountain skier Maxim Arsenault died in an avalanche close to Haines (Alaska) two days ago (source). He was filming with a production company close to Haines Pass. The accident was a dramatic confluence of circumstances. The Whistler based Arsenault fell from a 10 meter high cliff into a terrain trap (a place where snow can accumulate easily) and was unlucky that he triggered a small avalanche that came down and covered him with snow.

Help came fast, but too late...

The crew was there fast to localize him and dig him out, but help came too late... Maxim Arsenault already passed away. After the tragic death of Estelle Balet earlier this week the freeride scene loses a very talented rider again. Our thoughts go out to family and friends.
