New snowfall next weekend?

New snowfall next weekend?

The conditions in the Alps are awesome at the moment. There’s a lot of snow above 2000 meters and the conditions in the French northern Alps and the west and north of Switzerland are excellent. We couldn’t have wished for a better start of the season. It will be sunny next week and the temperature will rise, but it might snow again by the end of this week.

In this forecast:

  • Great conditions
  • Temperature will rise and the sun will come out
  • Snowfall by the end of this week?

Great conditions

It was ON in the Alps the last couple of days. Just check out the images and footage in this article. It was simply brilliant. The picture below says it all. The conditions are great in the Alps at the moment. Period.

Temperature will rise and the sun will come out

A front comes in from the west today. This will bring some high clouds to the western Alps, followed by some snowfall and rain below 1000-1500 meters. The sun will come out after Monday and the temperature in the Alps will rise. It will be mild and sunny during the day, but cold and clear during the night. This will keep the snow on north faces in great quality and you can go out for a tour above 1800-2000 meters. You’ll probably won’t be able to find fresh powder in resorts where the lifts are already running. Most of the lines were tracked yesterday and the rest will be tracked today.

Snowfall by the end of this week?

The image above clearly shows what the models are suggesting. Some snow will come down today, but the temperatures will rise later this week. We’ll have to wait till the end of the week before we see some change in the lines at the bottom of the image. Indications for precipitation. The temperature lines will start to fluctuate, this means that the models are not sure how at what altitude the snow line will end up. More about that tomorrow.

Enjoy your Sunday and all the fresh snow!
Stay stoked. Morris
