Live: Riding pow in the Queyras, France

By Sandra on 23 December 2016 · 0

Abriès is the most eastern resort of the Queyras. We found great snow in Sauze d'Oulx on Wednesday, but we decided to go out for a tour in our backyard (the Haut Guil) yesterday. We started in the village of Roux. The first 200 meters had no base.

Unstable snowpack

The snowpack was pretty unstable and we decided to climb and ride pretty defense. Fortunately, there was no powder stress here (like in Sestrière). We regularly heard some 'Whoompf' noises on our way up, so we were happy with our decision not to ride steeper than 30 degrees. We were rewarded with a nice run with great snow. A great start of the season!
