It's been snowing in the Alps the last couple of days. but there also were some heavy winds. Some valleys are completely loaded with, while on slopes just a couple of kilometers away the wind blew away all the snow. Check out the best webcam images from today!
Lots of snow and not that much wind in the Austrian Vorarlberg. With a little imagination you could see the lifts running.
The most important news is coming from the glaciers. They look great. The had to suffer a bit from the wind, but the slopes look pretty awesome. Tuesday and Wednesday will be great days on the glaciers. You could even ride on the lower slopes in Hintertux. That offers perspective for the next dump.
It's not far from Vorarlberg, but it didn't get much snow. The exceptions are the resorts in the Glanerland and the small resorts north of this region.
The wind dropped on Monday in this part of the Alps and that was great for the snow. The western part (of Wallis) didn't get that much snow, but the area between the Jungfrau and Andermatt definitely got some.
The French Savoie is showing multiple amounts of snow. The further south, the less snow. A lot of snow has been transported from the ridges and the peaks to lower parts of the mountain.
Same story in the Haute Savoie. Most of the snow that came down on the peaks and ridges has been transported. Chamonix got less snow than calculated. The current was more north in the last couple of hours, which resulted in less snowfall.
