Skiing around Tyrol/Salzburger border

    Hi folks,

I'm planning a short trip based near Kössen, AT and the plan is to drive up to Fieberbrunn or Kitzbühel each day. There are some smaller places near by, including lifts just outside Kössen, Steinplatte, Loffer etc. There all look like small "family" resorts, but if the snow is good (and this season it *is* good) maybe there could be some interesting skiing in these areas. These places do not have any routes on WePowder, but that's probably because they are low lying and don't normally attract a freeriding crowd. Are any of them worth a visit for a day? If so, any tips for good routes?

Also, Maria Alm is not too far away either, is that worth a visit?

We're a mixed group, we're looking for easy to moderate freeriding, but challenging pistes will interest some of us, and lack of people would be a big attraction. Tips for good hütten always appreciated too 😉

Steinplatte and Lofer don't offer that much terrain for freeride. Especially Steinplatte is not steep enough. Maria Alm is probably a better option. You can ride between the trees in Hintertal and it definitely won't be crowded.
One day, they'll invent synthetic powder, ban all kinds of work and give you a free liftpass...

Thanks Arjen, will check out Maria Alm, I've heard good things about it.
