Autumn? It's more like an Indian Summer

By meteomorris on 3 September 2018 · 0

The first signs of winter from the end of August are behind us, but the meteorological autumn has started. You can smell the autumn in the early morning and late evening. The days are getting shorter again and the nights get colder. Nevertheless, there is no sign of winter coming to the Alps this coming week.

The Alps are in a kind of no man's land between high and low pressure. This ensures quiet late summer weather with occasional (higher) clouds that can grow to the better cumulus clouds in the mountains could turn into a small thunderstorms or some rain in the afternoon. Iti' expected to stay like that in the coming days. It is possible that precipitation probabilities will increase considerably from Thursday, but there is certainly no question of a winter conditions.
