Hi there,
My name is Romain, French from Marseille and Corsica, I live in Geneva, I'm a teleskier and occasional skier and snowboarder to rest my quads 😉 My playground is "wherever there is good pow", but will favour Alpes Vaudoises, Chamonix, and Haute Tarentaise.
@buttofly, glad to see there is a vermonter out there! I actually graduated from UVM in 2001, and used to spend most of my skiing/riding time in Stowe! Happy to meet up with you this winter for some riding!

@Romain: based in the Netherlands. Would be sweet to hook up some time this season. Though I'm currently recovering from knee surgery so I'd like to heel up (hehe, pun intended) and get strong ASAP before we meet.

Check out the WeTelemark trip thread!

Hey I'm Lynsey, 34, from Scotland originally but living in Munich for nearly 2 years now. @Meteomorris why don't you do snow reports for Scotland, there's a lot of keen skiers there making the most of the mountains 😃

I usually ski 30-40 days a season, love skiing off piste and keep trying to get better so I can ski more. I ski anywhere a couple of hours drive from Munich, Garmisch a lot on my own as ti's so easy to get to then a week or 2 somewhere else a bit further. I have just got into touring but am really slow and still have alpine boots so have only been a few times but would like to do more.

30-40 days.. That's not bad. Wonder what you prefer.. Scotland or the Alps 😉

Although...Scotland? I do remember this Freeski TV episode..
May the powder be with you.

Hy, i´m Ralf, 26, from Upper Austria and love to ski powder as most of you do i guess 😃
My homespots are the typical Nordstau areas in Upper Austria, Styria and Salzburg, sometimes i travel to Tirol or Switzerland. If someone is in upper austria/styria/salzburg i would love to ski together.
Cheers

Helloooo, I'm nick and I'm living in the south of France skiing a couple of these little gems down here. Skied pretty much all my life so I know how to point them. Drop us a line if your ever down this way. Oh and if any one is heading to the Arlberg and looking for a place to stay and some to shred with, then defiantly check out Ross at @ChaletRafalt . He shreds hard, knows the Arlberg as well as any one and kills it with the best of them on any given day.

@shreddy_krueger. It is Italian. If the conditions are right you should consider Forni di Sopra: http://wepowder.com/playgrounds/forni-di-sopra

Hi all,

My name is Joost. Originally from The Netherlands, now living in Spain in Barcelona.

Have been skiing since being a kid and the last couple of years been focussing on Freeriding. Last few years I had about 30 days in the snow on average and I am hoping to increase that number again this year, now that I am living close to the Pyrenees and the Southern Alps. I mainly go stormchasing, based on @meteomorris powalerts (thanks for that, very much appreciated, not only for the alerts but also for the stoke following your site provided to get through summer! and for providing all information in the playgrounds).

When the conditions are right in the Pyrenees you can definitely contact me to join on a powtrip. I am also open to go to the Southern Western part of the Alps when the conditions become Epic over there- I prefer to head out with people with avi knowledge and equipment.

I would very much like to meet people from around here to go stormchasing with. I have also got my first touring setup, so I am also open to walk that extra mile for some powder when the snow has fallen a while ago. (I am however a novice in this and new to touring, so have some things to learn first)

Any tips for around here are welcome! And of course I am happy to share my experience as well as soon as I have some about the Pyrenees and have found find my way around here!
Life starts at the end of your comfort zone

@meteomorris

well, thanks for the advice, i will consider it if there is conditions here (northern alps east) are not good.
Is there still a problem with freeriding in Italy? I remember that i read an article about it and that the (ski)police can actually punish you if u ride outside the marked pistes.

I spent a year out there skiing Magic, a couple days at Stratton and Killington before settling into Sugarbush/Glen Ellen and Mad River.

l worked for Intrawest at Stratton, so did ski there a lot but Northern VT is much better! More "alpine". Didn't ski that much Sugarbush, a couple of times at Mad River, but back then I was more into snowboarding and Mad River is one of these few places on earth not quite openminded (though gnarly for skiing). Did a lot Stowe and Smugglers Notch...

That's awesome guys! Nice to know some other folks have spent time in Vermont.

Northern VT definitely has much better skiing/riding than the southern part of the state IMO... they actually get pow up there (including what looked to be a pretty good day today). I'll be back there around new years, hopefully the weather will cooperate.

There is some alpine terrain (particularly at Stowe where you can hike up to the summit) but really VT is all about the trees ... much different from the Alps.

In any case, super stoked to explore more of what the Alps has to offer this winter. Had my first day of the season last weekend at Verbier and may be going back there this weekend unless someone can offer me a better idea 😃 Anyone else planning to get out around here?

Reinier, 30 years old, from the Netherlands but based in Geneva, Switzerland. I'm a skier and always up for riding, especially when the conditions allow for it not too far from Geneva (which is not a bad place to be from that point of view...) but always up for a longer drive if forecasts dictate so! Also spend quite a bit of time in Villars but yet to explore freeride options there (anyone from that area?) Been mostly riding with guides or other people that have the safety knowledge I am still learning (work in progress with some avy courses and training lined up). This season I plan to get more touring in with a tech binding freeride set-up, pretty excited about that... Keeping a close eye on @meteomorris forecast like the rest of us here, feel free to shoot me message if you're in the area and heading out!

Have a good season!

I've never been a big fan of introducing myself, but let's try it anyway... 😃
Christoph, 30yrs, from Salzburg, Austria. Finished med school some months ago (yay...), now I'm trying to combine my 3 big loves (freeride skiing, photo- / videography, and, sigh, medicine) into a single job. impossible? yep! 😀

I'm usually skiing in the Bad Gastein area (Sportgastein) and the Salzburger Land (Zauchensee and so on). feels good to be here, needless to say I'm a big fan of the powder forecasts! 😃
