La Plagne April '15

Aprilse grillen!

Dit jaar was het zoals bijna alle vorige winters, een dikke dump begin April, een goede +1m vers hier! Eerst heel nat gevallen, maar dan goed opgevroren met erna een 30cm vederlichte sneeuw op betekende stabiele condities hier en de beste dag van het seizoen. Er was nog eens sterk skibezoek ook (Cedric, Paul & Tijn) dus dat betekende dat we met 5 man op enkele uurtjes alle beste couloirs en straightlines van La Plagne letterlijk afgeknald hadden… ;)

Bellecôte grand face nord = steep spring powder heaven!

Doordat de sneeuw zo goed en stabiel was, hebben Koen en ik bijna elke dag een andere dikke steile lijn op de noordwand van de Bellecôte kunnen doen! Deze wand heeft een stevige reputatie in de Savoie, omwille van zijn steile lijnen en grote hoogteverschillen, alpien terrein en toch redelijk eenvoudige toegang (hangt er vanaf welke lijn…). Wille het nu niet dat deze wand net in onze achtertuin ligt… ;)

Grande Casse(3855m) petite face nord

Na enkele keren goed gekeken te hebben op de majestueuze noordwand van de Grande Casse leek deze eindelijk genoeg sneeuw erin te hebben. (ijswand tot de week ervoor…)

Vorig jaar hadden we hier reeds een poging gedaan, maar was de sneeuw TE slecht dus zijn we toen teruggekeerd, dit jaar hoopten we op beter. Onze bedoeling was de couloir Italien of de moyenne face nord te skien, maar dit bleek achteraf niet mogelijk, te weinig sneeuw erin (ijs!) + te slechte weersomstandigheden… Na een lange alpiene bootpack de petite face nord afgeskiet (5.1 E2 650m), wat absoluut geen straf was!

Chamonix

Now i am in Chamonix, waiting for the lifts to open(!!!) and a longer good weather window! The north face of the Aiguille du midi looks promising…

Ziet er goed uit, ik zie de Bellecote altijd vanaf de andere kant: Vallandry/ Les Arcs . Grappige is dat ik vaak bij hetzelfde kroegje uitkom als ik of piste ski ( dal bij Nancroix ) als de skigroepen die van de Bellecote komen. De lijnen van de Bellecote staan zeker ook nog op mijn lijstje, want het Massief ziet er inderdaad super uit. En in het boek Les Cles de Paradiski van Didier Givois ( mijn bijbeltje

Is de petit face nord hetzelfde als le couloir des Canadiens en jullie gros glacier hetzelfde couloir als le gros glacier uit het boek les cles de paradiski van Didier Givois?
