It was last Thursday, during a film shoot in Farrellones in Chile, as the 30-year-old freerider alpine Matilda Rapaport was drawn into an avalanche.
Ski profile was buried under the snow for a long time and ended up in a coma.
Today came the tragic news that she died as a result of complications caused by lack of oxygen.
- It's a terrible event with an unfortunate outcome that is very difficult to take in. Our thoughts are closest to Matilda loved ones and we will, from the Swedish Ski Federation, to do everything we can to support them at this difficult time, says the Alpine boss Tommy Eliasson Winter in a press release.
Matilda Rapaport was married to the Swedish slalom star Mattias Hargin. He was flying, just like Rapa Ports mom, down to Chile after the accident and was at her side.
- The families do not feel good of course. Matilda family are gathered together. Mattias is in place. Everyone takes care of it in different ways, we try to help and provide support as best we can, says Eliasson Winter Sport Bladet.
