What Ski Areas Have Few Lifts, Big Vert and Steeps?

  My favorite areas end up being the ones with few lifts -Whitewater in BC, Alpental in WA, Silverton in Colorado, Mad River Glen, VT. La Grave, FR, Andermatt. CH, Alagna, IT.

  Peio in Italy, two lifts and 1600 vertical meters. No crowds what so ever.

  Does Peio/Pejo hold snow well? It's southfacing, so I was wondering.
  
  Also, the area to climbers left of the upper cable car - is that skiable?

  @chester_tartsnatcher I've only skied there for a day, march last winter, but ohh what a day.!.60 cm of fresh and no one wanted it, except me. Despite that amount of fresh snow, I still managed to run into some rocks buried deep under, So No, it doesn't hold snow very well as it is south-facing.
  
  Unfortunately they did not open the top that day, and it was pretty cloudy so I couldn't see the surroundings very well. But according to the topographic map it should be possible to ski various routes from the top, also the one you mention. But simply going outside the piste from the top should do it as well, and the snow probably holds better here as it is northeast-facing.

  @meteomorris, I didn't get up to Bonneval Sur Arc when I skied around the Maurienne. It does look like it would be worthy.
  
  I did ski around Val Frejus and Val/Mont Cenis in the Maurienne and Frejus had some really great sidecountry, plus the little couloirs under the upper lift were pleasantly spicey.
  
  Thanks @Storpotatisen , Pejo has been on my radar for a while and I've wondered if it might be good.
  (I'm only just getting used to the @ convention - we old hackers used to view the web as a place where identity should be protected...facebook and twitter kind of fly in the face (pun intended) of all that.)

  @chester_tartsnatcher Ohh, of course there is Macugnaga as well. Two lifts and 1700 vertical. Every now and then,when snow come from the south, it really dumps . It could even look like it did on the "old-guys-rule-trip" from last year.... 😃

  Macugnaga has been on my radar for a few years.
  
  There's too much pow in your video to get much information! But it looks great. Refugio Zappa is just off the top of that Pecetto chair.
  
  I've wanted to check out the Monte Moro area and wondered if the south facing attribute wrecks the snow or if you an ski from Bill down into Staffa proper. I know it's not too tricky, conditions providing, to get from Monte Moro to Saas Almagell, which would be cool.

  The south side takes a beating when sun's out, that's for sure. We skied first day on Monte Moro and the lower parts were closed due to lack of snow. And this was in beginning of february
  Yeah, I think the trickiest part of skiing to Saas-Almagell would be to get back home.. Either a looong tour back, or an expensive taxi.. But it would definately be a cool run to do.
  
  Saas-Almagell has some excellent tree skiing as well by the way, when conditions are good that is.

  Saas Grund is another one that looks decent - a little less dense than Saas-Fee with E/NE exposure and good amount of vertical:1600+ and skiable all the way!
