speciaal extra lawine bulletin Aosta
"The snowfall in progress (started yesterday afternoon) is affecting the entire territory and, in particular, Valtournenche, Valle del Lys and Champorcher with peaks of 60 cm (2000 m) to follow the Cogne Valley and central axis of the region with peaks of 30 cm and smaller quantities elsewhere. The snow is in general soft, light and dry over 2100 m ( 2400 m Valtounenche), slightly moistened below. It is not processed by the wind except in the vicinity of hills and ridges over the 2500-2800 m (winds, locally moderate S-SE-SW). This presents no particular tensions but has a weak bond with the old snow so much that is underway is the natural release of the slopes from the steeper slopes with avalanche of loose snow surface in individual cases even of medium size (to different aspects and levels). On slopes less steep, avalanches can overload which may be due to the new snow (waiting for the next hour even moderate), or a high overload (group of skiers / hikers). However, it should be noted that where the wind or humidification is creating soft slabs, the gap is likely also to the passage of a single skier with surface slabs of considerable thickness (40-50 cm.) The degree of danger is equal to 3 -marked increase in 4-strong in Valtournenche, Valle del Lys and Champorcher, 3-labeled elsewhere."
"For Monday: low snowfall in the morning ( 1000 m), light winds from the SE (morning) in rotation by N and reinforcement (in the afternoon). Over the edge of the forest, in relations to the additional quantities of fresh snow the day yesterday and night, the natural avalanche activity will continue with the natural release of the steep slopes (loose snow and slabs generally soft), with avalanches medium and in some cases even large (given the large amount of snow on the ground), in individual cases able to reach the valley floor. The triggering is possible even by a single skier, mainly over the edge of the forest, near the hills and elevation changes where the action of the wind (southerly 2500-2800 m) has formed new slabs (different thicknesses , also 60 cm).
In areas less affected by snowfall in recent days, the slopes in the shade you can still solicit the deep layers formed by a layer of snow like "salt". It 'a situation unlikely, but dangerous because it involves all the possible avalanche snowpack down to the ground (a meter thick slabs). Beware of elevation changes and, more generally, the transition zones between channels filled with snow and bumps eroded. The degree of danger is 4-strong in Valtournenche, Valle del Lys and Champorcher, 3-labeled elsewhere.
Evolution for Tuesday and Wednesday: in relation to the depletion of the natural release of the slope, a gradual improvement is expected with a danger level of 3-considerable throughout the region, to be confirmed with the update tomorrow."
Klinkt goed toch, voor dinsdag en woensdag?
