Climbing skin widht

  So I have skins that are cut to 98mm skis, and I'm about to get new skis that are 104mm so, do I need new climbing skins?

  there will be at least 3mm base exposed on each edge, possibly more. On flatter skitours this will be no problem but once it starts to become a bit steeper and you need to do kick turns you will be needing that little bit of extra traction on your edge. Personally i would get new skins but you can always give it a try.

  If you aren't going to do something really steep immediately, I'd give it a go because:
  - you might notice 6mm on the steeper climbs, but I wouldn't call it a lot.
  - skin's neither cheap nor environmentally friendly.
  - you can still buy new skins later.
