There is a storm in the making that will hit Europe from this Wednesday. This will put an end to the blue skies and the Alps can look forward to some fresh snow for the higher peaks. But the cold air will first have push the warm air further east and that’s not going really fast… Cold air will hit the shores of Normandy, Brittany, Belgium and The Netherlands in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, but it will reach the Alps on Thursday. The temperature will drop in the night to Friday and unstable air will flow into the western Alps (an later into the northern Alps). Until that time the Alps have to deal with some thunder storms.
The weather will be quite unstable on Friday and during the weekend. The snow line will be at around 3000 meters on Friday, but will drop from the west towards 1800 meters in the night to Saturday. Large amounts of precipitation are visible in the forecast and this means snowfall in the high alpine. That’s great news for the glaciers that took a huge beating this summer. If you wanted to go climbing, mountainbiking or something like that this weekend, just think about this storm coming in when you’re making plans.

Good to be back… looking forward to a better winter then last years! Just a question is the map still in rework? I still do not see the colored overlay.
Same here! Let’s hope winter 17/18 will be a good one. You’re correct, the map is not working at the moment. We’re working hard on the next version of wePowder which will go live in a couple of weeks.
