Freshies coming up for the highest peaks

Freshies coming up for the highest peaks

You could see some freshies on the webcams today and this will also be the case on the highest peaks on Tuesday morning. But with a jetstream moving to the southwest, the Alps will experience the force of tropical storm Henri (already number eight this season) and warm air from the south. The northwest of the Alps will get under the influence of cold air from Thursday afternoon. This is the result of the jetstream moving east. You can expect some freshies in the northwest in the night from Thursday to Friday, with a snow line dropping to 2500 meters.

The highest peaks in the Maurienne Valley this morning (September 14th).

Snow for the highest peaks

There no such thing as cold arctic air coming up for the Alps, so only the highest peaks will get a white topping. Check out the actual forecast lists here. Winter is still far away, but the latest freshies are definitely a goodbye to summer. Maybe the air will get colder after the weekend. If this will happen, I’ll post an update later this week.

It’s time to get ready for winter. Do you have to knowledge to get out in the backcountry? Or do you know where you want to ride this winter? You can find some inspiration here. Winter is coming!

Stay stoked
