There’s a lot of snow, rain and wind in the forecast. A lot of French and Swiss ski areas will get a lot of snow the next 48 hours and as you can see on the forecast page there’s even more to come. There’s also a strong wind and this results in a HIGH avalanche danger!
Security measures in Val Thorens
There are several security measures in Val Thorens. The public and private garages were closed to ensure that nobody leaves by car. The road between Les Menuires and Val Thorens has been closed. They had to close it to trigger avalanches. A lot of lifts were closed yesterday and they’ve just reopened a couple today. They adviced everybody to stay inside yesterday.

More and more resorts are closing their lifts. Valloire and Valfréjus in France are closed. It’s raining in Les Bettex (Les Menuires) and in Les Arcs 1800. The lifts in Val Thorens are closed as well.
The road from Tignes Le Lac to Tignes 1800 will be shut down from 9PM tonight till 6AM in the morning.
Same here in St. Anton. All lifts are closed. Heavy wind and snow/rain.
@@NiklasH Thanks for the update. Just got an e-mail from Lech that they’re closed as well.
While it’s annoying in the moment, hopefully this will shake out some snowpack instabilities.
