For at least another week and a half, we will have to put up with sunny spring weather. From Wednesday onwards, 20 degrees will be seen in more and more places in the valleys. Higher up, it will also be mild, with a zero degree line at around 2500 metres. After that, uncertainty will increase, but there are no real chances of serious snowfall on the weather charts.

High pressure still dominant
^The weather forecasts on wePowder are powdered by our friends from Ortovox
High pressure still dominates over Europe, keeping fronts with snowfall far away. Therefore, in the coming week we should not expect any significant precipitation. The sun will be shining brightly and with temperatures up to 20 degrees Celsius in the valleys, spring will increasingly strike. In large parts of the Alps, this month may also go down in the books as a record-breaking dry month.
Some precipitation on Friday?
On Friday, the core of the high-pressure area will move a bit further to the west and there might be some precipitation for Austria, but it will be very little. Especially in the east of Austria some showers might develop in the afternoon with a snowline that will probably be around 2000 metres. Also Saturday, developing cumulus clouds in Austria and the Dolomites might bring some showers during the day.

Shift towards more changeable weather?
After that, we still see few signs of a change. The uncertainty does increase in the middle of next week and it may become a bit more changeable, but for the time being there is no prospect of a snow dump. A cold snap from the north does try to get through, but the current predictions show that it will be blocked by a depression over the Mediterranean.

It’s a dry winter. In 2014, 2015 and 2018 by the end of March wepowder had issued c. 20 powder alerts
It was not only dry, also warm and windy!
