Live: It's paradise again

Live: It's paradise again
Pow is back

Too warm, too hard, too much like spring. I’ve already made the first corn turns again. Also nice. But in January? I wanted powder. And that’s exactly what happened last weekend. My home areas Puy Saint Vincent and Pelvoux got the full load!

Rain and snow

I have to be honest, the snow line was also too high last weekend for early February. Most of the snow fell above 1600 meters and only at the end of the bad weather did the snow line drop to about 1000 meters. But only for a cosmetic layer. At altitude, about 60 centimeters of snow has definitely fallen. That made up for these sad too-warm weeks!

La Blanche

After skiing through the fresh snow on Saturday with my son and daughter, I decided to climb to the top above the Pelvoux ski area on Sunday. To La Blanche. Well, not quite to La Blanche, because we considered the top wall too dangerous, and a quickly dug snow profile proved us more than right. The descent was no less for it.

The bal(l) is rolling

Such snow tastes like more! So on Monday and Tuesday (and probably more days this week) we headed to the Col de Bal, the off-piste descent from Puy Saint Vincent; here we found wonderful powder. And more than enough space for our own tracks. Today, by the way, we met ‘Rancho’ at the top, who is probably also looking for real powder!

I know what I’m doing in the coming days!
