In collaboration with BAKOM, Mammut is recalling the Barryvox 2 and S2 avalanche transceivers (LVS). The main switch can unintentionally switch to an undesired mode. Therefore, using the device poses a safety risk.
What danger do the affected products pose?
The main switch on some products may be misaligned. Lateral pressure on the main switch can result in an unintended switch to search or off mode. In the event of locating a person buried by an avalanche, this person may not be found or found very late, resulting in serious injuries or death of the buried person.
Which products are affected?
The affected products are the Barryvox 2 and Barryvox S2 avalanche transceivers from Mammut, which have been on sale since autumn 2024:

What should affected consumers do?
Consumers should stop using the device and check if they own an affected product. They are entitled to a free inspection and, in case of a defect, a free exchange.
The procedure is as follows: Consumers can either return the Barryvox 2 or S2 to a Mammut shop or perform the inspection online.
